A NOTE FROM OUR COUNSELOR

Greetings!
I hope you and your families are doing well and staying healthy! We’ve made it through the first 6 weeks! Woohoo! Thank you so much for your support, patience, and flexibility as we’re all working through these crazy times together! We can’t always control what’s happening around us but we can control how we respond when situations arise. Grace for ourselves is just as important as having grace towards others and allows us all to move forward through difficult situations while remaining positive, forgiving the wrongs of others, and realizing that we’re all going to fall at some time or another. We are so truly grateful for your support and positive comments we’ve received so far this year!
October is here, fall is in the air, everything pumpkin-spice flavored is about to hit the shelves, and we have many fun events coming up this month!
National Bullying Prevention Week is October 19-23 and students will learn what bullying is, how to prevent it, and ways they can handle bullying. I’ve written an e-book called ‘The Bully On My Bus!’ that I’m going to show students during this week that involves myself coming face-to-face with my bully on the bus and how I overcame the situation. If you’d like to preview it beforehand and have discussions with your child at home, click the link above!
On Friday, October 23rd from 5:00-6:00, our PTA is hosting a ‘Drive By Candy Parade’ that will be a lot of fun for your family. Drive through, wave at your teachers, and load up on lots of CANDY!
The following week, October 26-30th, we are celebrating Red Ribbon Week and students will learn that there are good and bad drugs, how to know the difference, and how to make healthy choices to keep their bodies growing strong!
This year, with virtual and in-person learning, I’ve decided to create a counselor website that contains links to video guidance lessons, e-books, community resources, and contact information, etc. that you can access for more information!
We’re extremely excited that school is back in session and look forward to see what the rest of the school year has in store! Thank you again for your support and encouragement!
Sincerely,
Brian Lane, M.Ed.
